Preview PSD Files in Windows Explorer

Preivew psd files in Windows ExplorerI have been trying to figure this out for the longest time. How can I preview Photoshop .psd files inside the preview pane of Windows Explorer in Windows Vista?

Adobe Photoshop is the standard when it comes to graphic design. My job relies heavily on this product. Photoshop creates .psd formated files to save all of the information associated with a graphic. These can be exported to .jpg, .gif, and.png (among many others) — which can be previewed in Vista’s Windows Explorer Preview Pane. By default however, .psd files created in Photoshop cannot be previewed. This is the fix.

I found the solution over at My Digital Life. Essentially, the solution involves installing some files via the command prompt. Don’t worry, it’s easy — trust me. All of the instructions are provided in the ReadMe.txt file.

Note: this only works for Windows Vista because it has the preview pane in Explorer.

I have been wanting to do a little bit of cleanup on my PC because I am horribly unorganized. Also, I’m not sure if I particularly care for Adobe Bridge. This seems like the perfect solution, especially because it’s free, and it seems to work flawlessly.
