Install Internet Explorer 7 Without Validation

ie7.jpgThere are many reasons to want to use Internet Explorer 7. One of the best reasons, is that it is up to date, whereas Internet Explorer 6 is very old.

The new version of IE is very nice and worth the upgrade.

To install Internet Explorer, one must validate his copy of Windows.

update.gifWarning! This post is only to be used for educational purposes.

In other words, I am in no way at all condoning the use of illegal copies of Microsoft Windows XP. This post is not about piracy. It is only a demonstration, strictly for the purposes of education.

  1.  The first thing to do is to download.jpgdownload the Internet Explorer 7 executable.
  2. Download Here.

  3. Download and install Winrar.
  4. Right-click on the file that you downloaded named IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe and select extract to IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.
  5. Download this patch named iecustom.dll.
  6. Open the IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu folder that you just created and open the update folder inside it.
  7. You are going to copy the patch named iecustom.dll that you downloaded to the update folder. When it asks to overwrite, choose yes.
  8. Next, download normaliz.exe.
  9. Then copy and paste this to C:/.
  10. Go back into the update folder IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu\update.
  11. Run update.exe.
  12. Let it update Internet Explorer.
  13. At the end of the update, check the box that says restart later.
  14. Download normaliz.dll.
  15. Copy and paste this to c:\windows\system32\.
  16. Reboot.
  17. update.gifIf you have a problem with your desktop looking blank, there is a reason for it. It is because the normaliz.dll file is not being recognized by explorer.exe. If you don’t have this problem, then you may proceed to step 17. If you do have this problem, you must do the following in this exact order.
    1. Open the task manager (alt+ctrl+del).
    2. Open file–>new task.
    3. Type C:\normaliz.exe and press OK.
    4. When the Winzip self-extractor window pops up, click unzip.
    5. Reboot.
    6. When you login your desktop will be normal again.
  18. Open the same update folder.
  19. Run xmllitesetup.exe
  20. Reboot.

Internet Explorer 7 has now be installed on your PC without validation. Trust me, this works!

Enjoy!

No support! These instructions are for testing purposes only! This is not intended to help people who are using pirated software. Since I now have your IP address, perhaps I will report you to the proper authorities. You should buy Windows Vista. It comes with IE7.

IE7 is just as clunky as IE6 (IMHO) so I still continue to use Opera. I like Opera just a bit better than Firefox and I won’t even consider using IE “any-version” unless the website I’m accessing uses ActiveX and I simply must use the site.

    Nice hack though!

Hi Politech. I design and run websites for a living. Since 90% of my users are using IE, Firefox is not that important to me. Opera is completely irrelevant. I still test in Firefox and Opera, but since nobody uses Opera, I don’t make a big deal out of it.

I happen to find Firefox to be far more clunky than IE7. IE7 runs smoothly, while Firefox crashes often. Perhaps it is a Vista thing. Also, most of the good/relevant extensions for Firefox, are also available as IE plug ins in one form or another.

I do not buy in to using Firefox simply for the fact that it is open source. I couldn’t care less. Microsoft happens to make good product, and many in the open source crowd are jealous of the success of Microsoft, and/or are communists who happen to loathe capitalism and think that everyone should be equally poor.

So sorry, but as a professional web designer, I have to firmly disagree with what you say. IE is everything, and the rest is everything else.

Sorry if my comment seemed negative, I didn’t mean it that way. I was simply crowing about my long time favorite Opera which IMHO is the most under-rated under-utilized, as while at the same time the best browser preference out there.

Firefox is cool too, I really like the inline spell checker. Not dissing it!

I have had more than my fair share of problems with IE7 (upgrading from IE6) in my job as an Application Integration Engineer in meat space. Due to some of those issues, we are currently restricting the upgrade for our user community … currently.

IE is the only choice for some third party web services in the vertical in which I work, but IE7 had too many problems with the initial release for us to put it into production. Slowly those bugs are being patched and the problematic web sites are also making the necessary adjustments.

For now I will not deploy IE7 to my user community. But as you state IE is the big Kahuna and as such is the only officially supported browser on our firms workstations (as we depend on ActiveX for many critical 3rd party web apps, no matter what the risk).

So willingly or not, I am currently testing and will eventually be deploying the IE7 browser, and again, thanks for the tip as I may truly need it.

It’s all good. I respect your opinion. By the way, ieSpell is a great spellchecker for IE.

Your site is very clear and easy to understand, however I am using XP pro and says “access denied”.

Everything is working great until update.exe it runs through everything and then when installing files about 3/4 of the ways it says “access denied”. Is there another file that needs to be deleted or added?

I’m sure this is a simple fix, but still haven’t been able to get 7.0.

    Any help would be appreciated.

If you have installed XP and Windows 98 your xp system32 would be in F: drive!!!
    and at last thanks.
your site is very clear and easy to understand.

Thanks for this tutorial of IE7. But for some reason IE7 doesn’t have tab browsing and doesn’t show the home favourites and so and so buttons.

Hmm, that must mean that you are using a pirated version of Windows. This is not intended to help you steal a copy of Microsoft’s fantastic software.

You are supposed to purchase this, like every other law abiding citizen. I will never condone thievery. It is only meant for educational purposes. Perhaps you should try Opera instead.

  23. Posted October 18, 2007 at 10:26 pm | Permalink

Try installing Ubuntu 7.10 and stop needlessly pirating Windows. If you are using it for work, your company should buy you a legitimate license. If not, there is absolutely no reason to not use Ubuntu Linux for home/personal use. I am quite confident that you will find the newest version of Ubuntu Linux more than satisfactory.
