Cigarette Smoking Causes Global Warming

Last night, former Vice president Al Gore made a speech before the U.N. –on what? Global warming, of course. What else?

Among his compelling argument that man is causing global warming, he claimed that

Cigarette smoking is a “significant” contributor to global warming!

Yes, he actually is making the argument that cigarette smoking significantly contributes to global warming!

The only thing that he actually has not claimed (yet) is that breathing is causing global warming. After all, as we all know, the act of breathing emits carbon dioxide, which according to some of the world’s most intelligent among us, is the root cause of it in the first place.

I just want to give Gore a bit of credit if I may. He has truly mastered the art of duping everyone around him, with speech. Or perhaps he is just preaching to the choir.

Just a side note: Doesn’t former President Clinton smoke cigars? If the smoke from a cigarette can cause global warming, imagine what a cigar can do.

This argument truly puts the word mental in environmentalism.

First Clinton loses his marbles in public. Now Gore has followed the lead. Are we witnessing a pattern here?

Gore’s convinced me. That’s for sure. How can anyone repudiate such scientific wisdom?

He gives all of us a quite convincing reason to consider him for President ‘08.

    Quick question:
Can you guys come up with anything new other than liberals suck…because they’re liberals?
Seriously, McCarthyism is SO 6 decades ago.
You gotta debate like adults now. Mmkay?

Can you guys come up with anything new other than liberals suck…because they’re liberals?

Is this a joke? Are you freaking kidding me?

What is the policy of the Democrats in this election –other than Bush and Republicans suck? That is the only policy of the Democrats –Bush sucks!

You are a filthy hypocrite for saying this.

McCarthyism? So are you suggesting that liberals are equivalent to communists? Your words, not mine, although I can’t say I’d really argue with that assertion.

    You guys

What guys? I am the only one here. It is just me, not more than one guy.

You gotta debate like adults now. Mmkay?

What the hell are you talking about? I’m not even a Republican. You happen to obviously be a newbie to brentroos.com. Let me fill you in: I’m an independent, with individual thought. I do not repeat talking points of others, mostly because I don’t read much of other people’s blogs (I find them boring), although if I happen to say something similar to someone else, it is probably either that they also think like I, or that perhaps they copied from me (happens all the time).

This post is not a debate, unless you actually agree with the absurd claim that cigarette smoking significantly contributes to global warming.

If so, then who in the hell are you to tell me to act like an adult?

You know this really could be true. Think of all the people that go outside to have a smoke. Each time they do they either let the cold in (or the cold out in warmer climates!). There are significant amounts of fossil fuels burned every day because somebody went outside in minus 20 degree weather for a smoke.

    Makes sense to me ;-)

  4. Posted January 18, 2007 at 4:38 pm | Permalink

Bill your response makes zero sense at all. You are suggesting that if someone goes outside when it is cold out that this is causing global warming? Are we just supposed to never go outside? If going outside for a smoke contributes to this, then doesn’t also going outside to go to work, or to the store, or anywhere also cause this?

Lastly, if global warming actually existed as you believe that it does (which it does not), then how can you explain minus 20 degree temperatures? I thought the Earth was warming! You just put your foot in your mouth.

Nice try. You just hate smokers because you don’t smoke, so you believe that nobody else should either.

Just wondering, are you actually refuting that global warming is happening at all? That global temperature is not rising steadily, and that is has been for hundreds of years?

I mean, I have met people who believe that global warming is not caused or effected in any way by Human Activities, but you are the first that has ever implied that it simply is not happening at all.

[The rest of this ridiculous comment has been deleted, due to a blatant violation of the Rules of Engagement.]

First of all, you are an idiot.

    Secondly,

…you should also be *inteligent* enough…

Um, you spelled intelligent incorrectly. I am the unintelligent one?

Thirdly, you suggested that I go back to highschool? Actually, I’m going back to college, to pursue a Masters Degree.

You have no argument. You can only insult me and my intelligence. You call me names. You have nothing with which to make any argument, whatsoever, including FACT. Good for you!

I would like you to point out where I said that global warming is not taking place. Go ahead, tell me. Where in the hell did I say that? I didn’t. I said that to suggest that cigarette smoking contributes significantly to global warming, as Al Gore suggests, is absolutely absurd. Perhaps you need to

return to highschool, and this time try not to sleep through the parts where learning occurs.

Did you forget how to read, or do you just not have the ability to comprehend the words that your eyes see?

That global temperature is not rising steadily, and that is has been for hundreds of years?

This is an incomprehensible question. I will attempt to clarify in understandable terms, for my other readers (keyword: readers, implying that they can actually read and write).

What you seem to be suggesting is that global warming has been happening for hundreds of years.

For one thing, we have not even been keeping records for that long. Secondly, since industrialization has only occurred on this planet for one hundred years, your argument does not even make a shred of sense.

You are a wannabe environmentalist wacko. You don’t even fit into the category of a true environmentalist wacko, because you obviously don’t even have the brain capacity to make a thoughtless argument. You don’t even make an argument at all. You are just thoughtless.

This type of idiocy is not welcome here. Next time you should consider what you write and to whom you are writing to. You are messing with a Major Leaguer, son.

just open your mind for a second.. think about haw many people each second every second of every day breathe out smoke… suddenly it seems believable, ok ok smokers contribute to a tiny % but 1% is bigger than 0% eh? it all adds up.

  8. Posted June 8, 2007 at 9:44 pm | Permalink

Dan, you aren’t too bright are you?

Cigarette smoke does not contribute to 1% of the atmosphere’s pollution –not even close.

You can keep believing myths like this –the communists who started this movement 30 years ago are counting on sheeple such as yourself.

So keep up the good work! You make a fine little commie –Marx and Lenin would be proud. I’m sure Hillary is too because she counts on people like yourself to believe her pretty little way of trying to convince everyone that we should ruin our economy with socialism.

  10. Posted June 11, 2007 at 10:46 pm | Permalink

What a dumb question. Global warming does not exist in the context as it is presented by liberals and idiots like yourself who unquestioningly believe it. Climate change is a natural occurrence caused by the Sun.

You are ignorant, that you don’t even know that the ice caps on Mars are also melting.

Put two and two together. Is man causing global warming on Mars?

Some people aren’t JUST dumb. They REFUSE to believe the truth. Usually this is because of ideology, and in this case, it is communism. This movement was started 30 years ago by commie bastards DIRECTLY after ‘Nam. Go read for once (besides what you find on the Internet).

Idiot…I’m so sick of people like you. You are totally worthless to this planet.

What the commies don’t tell you is that there is no such thing as “normal” climate. It has been in fluctuation for hundreds of millions of years. The commie bastards don’t expect twits like yourself to question this. They expect you to be AFRAID and CHANGE.

    DUH!

Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.

i’ve read all these comments and i realized that you insulted every person using your knowledge.its clever but in a way unessecary.i’m doing a report on smoking pollution and all i see is a bottomless pit of retalliation(not sure how to spell that).i would be extremely gratified to have a straight answer on how much the earth is affected by smokers.

  14. Posted November 16, 2007 at 5:46 pm | Permalink

Mandy, the answer is simple: none. A volcano is far more harmful to the atmosphere than a billion cigarette smokers. Yet still, somehow over hundreds of millions of years, the earth has survived.

I’d say to you, stop feeling so guilty about the calamities of the world.

Man is far more inferior in this universe than he will ever admit. We really don’t know a whole lot about it, despite the fact that [some of us] think we do.

The sky is not falling. By the way Mandy, how old are you? Just wondering.

You see, everyone has good intentions, but smoking or not will make no difference at all. If you want to go through your life being a tree hugger, then go for it, but please don’t pull me into your personal prison of misery.

I’m happy, and the earth is a beautiful place. :)

Right on man! I agree with you in principal about the ridiculousness of global warming hype and that our modern day socialists posing as American liberals are behind all this but honestly, when you begin insulting people you are dumbing down the conversation. Liberals like to fashion themselves as “tolerant” but are always the least tolerant, while conservatives make intelligent comments and rarely disrespect their adversary. You obviously have a good grasp on the facts; I encourage you to let them stand on their own without the insults - it makes you look smarter, your case stronger, and these liberal idiots (oops, forgive my lone insult), well, idiotic and unbelievable, which of course they are.

  16. Posted April 4, 2008 at 11:42 am | Permalink

I appreciate your comment Greg, but you failed to specify exactly what I said to insult people.

Look at it this way, if my pointing out the truth offends people, then good…they probably deserve to be offended. If someone is offended by the truth, then they are obviously not an honest enough person to accept the truth on truth’s terms.

Pointing out the fact that someone is an idiot may “dumb down” the conversation, yet this perhaps is sometimes necessary for “idiots” to comprehend my otherwise confusing (intelligent) language.

Suggesting that liberals are “tolerant” is sort of like suggesting that the Clintons are “honest people”. This of course, may depend on your perspective and/or what the “definition if is,” is.”

And yes, man-made global warming is a crock. Mars is also undergoing “global warming”, and yet not a single SUV or factory has caused this.

What gives? Algore is a liar, period. By the way, 2008 had the worst winter in a century.

Are you kidding me? Look, has it ever occurred to you that”Global Warming” is a natural process that has been happening for millions of years? No credible scientist will deny this. So why would you? Has it ever occurred to you that a lot of the things going on in the world are connected? Do you actually see it as a coincidence that the process of oil didn’t skyrocket until everyone started foaming at tthe mouth with “going green”?

I feel so sorry for all of you sheeple who are willing to believe whatever the man says on TV, despite the fact that he gives “news reports”, not because he gives two craps about YOU, but because the ratings line his pockets.

Smoking is injurious to health and environment too so one should definitely not smoke. Cigarettes have tobacco content and the smokers emit the smoke out of their mouth adding to the woes of environment and thus the problem of global warming.

    Thanks

  20. Posted June 17, 2008 at 11:21 am | Permalink

Okay Jessica. You are suggesting that smoke in general causes global warming. So heating your home, cooking your food, and anything else that burns a fuel, automatically causes global warming? Wow are you brainwashed!

How many natural occurrences cause smoke? If smoke causes global warming, and there are so many natural causes for smoke in the atmosphere, would it not be logical to suggest that global warming happens naturally, not from people, or in this case people who smoke cigarettes?

Where is your perspective? Where does it derive? Let me guess: TV and the Internet…

All it takes is a tiny bit of common sense, logic, and perspective to prove your theory to be silly and absolutely wrong…

“…if global warming actually existed as you believe that it does (which it does not)”

Oh? Yes, actually, it does. It is a natural process of temperature and climate change caused by the sun that we are speeding up due to the extreme increase in CO2 in the atmosphere which is our fault. Don’t argue the truth, we ARE increasing CO2 emissions. It’s not my opinion, it’s fact.

“…What is the policy of the Democrats in this election –other than Bush and Republicans suck? That is the only policy of the Democrats –Bush sucks!”

I am no democrat, but I have to say this is a lie. Democrats are against Bush due to the fact that he invaded iraq, used “terrorism” as a cover (the terrorists didn’t reflect the beleifs of Iraq’s government), and now he is sucking all the oil he can out of their ground. Sounds like a smart plan to get rich, but hey, the government can be as corrupt as it wants. If a corrupt democrat was in charge, he would do the same thing.

“You don’t even fit into the category of a true environmentalist wacko, because you obviously don’t even have the brain capacity to make a thoughtless argument.”

He doesnt have the brain capacity to make a thoughtless argument? So, he DOES have the capacity to make a THOGUHTFUL comment? That’s just what you said, not me, man.. It couldn’t hurt to watch your double negatives before you try to shove someones face into e-dirt, alright?

*I have not insulted you once throughout my post, and it is not my wish to insult you. I’m just trying to get you to look at things in a new light, because you seem a little closed minded to ideas that don’t fit into your agenda.

  22. Posted June 24, 2008 at 11:17 pm | Permalink

Adam, where is your proof that the CO2 is causing the planet to warm? Furthermore, what do you have to say about record snowfall and record lows during the last winter? Was that also caused by global warming? Oh wait, that’s climate change, right?

You have been sucked into Algore’s propaganda –congratulations. Do you know that Gore has profited by $100 million dollars from gullible sheeple like yourself?

I am of the opinion that Gore needs to be brought up on Congressional hearings for windfall profits. Afterall, he is profiting from something he has nothing to do with, unless you consider your own asinine view of the planet’s climate, then perhaps…

Um, if Bush is pumping all of this oil from Iraq, where is it? Prices are HIGH because supply is LOW. Where did you learn economics, from the back of a cereal box? Or was it on MSNBC? I cannot deicde which is more credible for information…

Not having the brain capacity to even make a thoughtless argument means that you fall short of someone who has no capacity whatsoever to make thoughtful arguments. In other words, being an idiot would actually be a step up for you…
